Seascape pastel on textured paper by artist Francisco Narvaez (Venezuelan, 1905-1982), framed under glass. Narvaez was most commonly associated with his sculptures. Some of his strongest auction results, however, were his paintings. Sight size 10-1/8" x 17-1/4" in 20-3/4" x 27-7/8" frame. Apparently unsigned. Provenance: Comes with original authentication certificate from Fundacion Francisco Narvaez, signed in 1997 by foundation director, Margarita Narvaez. Certificate states (translated): "Seascape composed of deployed nets in beige tones. The sky is treated in various shades of blue." Creation date, according to certificate, was 1962. Fine condition. No issues. Certificate indicates that the frame has some water stains. Apparently it has been reframed, as there are no such stains on the current frame.
