Description
Massive soapstone carved figure of draped nude woman with upraised arm, releasing (or catching) two butterflies. Presumed to be First Nations, as opposed to Native American from the lower 48. Material is more like what Alaskan/Canadian artists use. The butterfly is often used as a motif in the art of the Pacific Northwest Coast. Measures 21-1/2" high on wood base. Signed "Geoh" or "Geol".
