Director Steven Spielberg commissioned Zimmerman to photograph Michael Jackson and the ET model for an LP of the ET story, narrated by Michael Jackson. Zimmerman captured this image of the model depicting it without any expression, that is, before any mechanical manipulation was done to it. (According to Zimmerman, Spielberg was most insistent that none of the published images showed ET without any expression.)
