Five lobby cards for the Monogram Pictures feature, Up in the Air, starring Frankie Darro and Mantan Moreland. Moreland -- perhaps most famous for being Charlie Chan's chauffeur -- appeared in more than 125 films during his long career, which went from 1933-1973. He was reportedly close to being chosen as the replacement for Shemp Howard as part of The Three Stooges, but the studio already had a contract with another comedian. Moreland's trademark was bulging eyes and a cackling, nervous laugh, which earned him memorable roles as comic relief. Changing racial sensibilities ironically largely torpedoed Moreland's career, and after the 1940s, he found little work in film. This item can be shipped in-house.
