Description
According to its markings, a DFC (David F. Clark) inspected Colt SAA revolver, serial 67705. DFC on cylinder and frame, DFC and P on the barrel. Numbers match except for gate, which is 637. Butt stamped "J.P. Lower" (John Pray Lower was a highly regarded Denver gunsmith). Cylinder has three stamps on rear between consecutive chambers: 1, 201 and C. There is a small H in the hammer channel. Comes with 2002 Colt letter. The "C" on the cylinder might indicate that it was government "condemned," and sold to the civilian market. Nickel-plating appears to have been fairly contemporary. Original finish was blue. This MIGHT have been a Cavalry model sold to civilian market (apparently a common fate for government-condemned models). But there are some elements that seem inconsistent with that possibility, as some of the marks look as though they might have been reworked by a restorer. So, given its questionable markings and newer finish, its origin remains uncertain. These factors might, for some collectors, place this revolver squarely into the "shooter" category. This item can be shipped in-house.
Condition
Other than its unoriginal finish (nickel appears relatively recent), condition is excellent. Timing fine.
