Original pastel painting, depicting Vindication, the 2002 Breeder's Cup Juvenile champion thoroughbred that was sired by the legendary Seattle Slew. After winning that major race by almost three lengths, Vindication was heavily favored to win the following year's Kentucky Derby, but was injured and unable to compete any further. (Also see Lot 91.) Measures 23-1/2" x 34-3/8" visible in 30"x 41" frame. Signed by the artist, Yvonne Claire Dupre, lower right, and dated 2006.
