Postcard of Bill's Gay Nineties (now Bill's Supper Club), New York City. Handwritten note from Babe Ruth to his close friend. Signed simply "Babe" at the end. Ruth's normally strong, bold penmanship is dramatically absent in this note, as his cancer had weakened him considerably by late 1947. Provenance: From the estate of Jimmy Donohue, owner of Donohue's Restaurant in Mountain View, N.J. Donohue became friends with Ruth in the 1920s and remained close with him until Ruth's death.
