Description
Circa 1910 Arts & Crafts table lamp by Charles Limbert (American, 1854-1923). Leaded glass and copper. Octagonal shade depicts a silhouetted river scene, which is repeated in each panel. Windmill-shaped base has acorn pulls and hammered handles. From Florida estate. This exact model of Limbert lamp was sold through Christies as part of the Ann & Gilbert Getty Collection in 2023 (https://onlineonly.christies.com/s/ann-gordon-getty-collection-early-modern-design-temple-wings/charles-limbert-1854-1923-475/182915). Measures about 25" high and 25" in diameter. Limbert is widely considered one of the most important figures in the Arts & Crafts movement. Condition
No broken pieces. The inaccessible corners under the silhouettes have not been cleaned -- there is some dust that could use a cleaning out, but the glass panels could be removed to clean them thoroughly. The shade is separated from the flange that slides onto the lamp top, creating a tilt (as shown in images). The shade does sit on the top just fine, but the flange should be affixed to the shade so it sits securely. The original cloth-covered cord is cut, but rewiring would be recommended anyway.
