Original ink and pencil drawing of a female figure talking with a fireman, signed James Montgomery Flagg (1870-1966), perhaps best known for his Uncle Sam "I Want You" poster from WWI. Small stamp on left corner "Liberty Art Dept Macfadden publ 1926 Broadway, Subject Firemen, Issue Sept 24 1932." On verso, is a sticker that reads "Macfadden Publications Art Dept. LIBERTY Magazine" with the artists listed and the title as "Firemen are a Menace." Paper size 21-1/4" x 28". Provenance & note: From a Florida Modern art collection amassed beginning in the 1950s in Michigan. All proceeds from the sale of this item will go to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wis. Many of the important art pieces in the sale are from this same lifetime collection.
