Description
Hand sewn flag of loose spun cotton with a heavier cotton hoist. Grommet holes reinforced with stitching, phalanx or battalion arrangement of stars, sewn on each side of the canton, with the rays arranged roughly similarly. 36 star flags were officially used from July 4, 1865 - July 4 1867, beginning with Nevada statehood. This style flag was famously used to cushion Abraham Lincoln as he lay on his deathbed after being shot at Ford's Theater on April 15. Hand crafted flag has a blue field composed of two pieces, stars finished neatly on one side, with the hoist on the right. Overall approx. 91-1/2" L x 52-3/4" H. This item can be shipped in-house.
