1935 TLS from Eleanor Gehrig, wife of Lou Gehrig, replying to an invitation to an event held by James Donohue. Letter reads: "Mr. Lou Gehrig has asked me to notify you that the New York Yankees will be in Boston on April 24th, and he will therefore be unable to attend your affair. Very Truly Yours, Eleanor Gehrig." Letter is 9" x 7" and on Lou Gehrig's letterhead. Provenance: From the estate of Jimmy Donohue, owner of Donohue's Restaurant in Mountain View, N.J. Donohue became friends with Ruth in the 1920s and remained close with him until Ruth's death. Several items in today's sale came from this same estate. This item can be shipped in-house.
